Patricia “Pat” Eanes Jackson, 88, passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2021.
She was the widow of Royce L. Jackson Jr. and is survived by her two sons, Stephen R. Jackson (Courtney), of Suffolk, and David C. Jackson, of Henrico County; and her granddaughter, Anne C. Jackson. She is also survived by her brother, William H. Eanes, and her sister, Lili K. Irving, and two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph C. Eanes Jr.
Pat was born on March 20, 1933, in Flushing, Long Island, New York, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Eanes. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond. Following her graduation, she attended the Pratt Institute in New York City and later graduated from Westhampton College in Richmond, where she met her husband, Roy. They were married in 1959 and, at the time of his death, had been married for almost 40 years. After graduating from college, Pat worked as a teacher and later as an elementary school librarian in Henrico County for many years. She was enthusiastic about reading and during her career helped countless children discover the gift of reading and a passion for books. After raising her sons, she resumed her work as a librarian at Beulah Elementary School in Chesterfield County, from which she retired. Even after retiring, she continued to collect children’s books and to teach reading. It was a legacy of which she was most proud.
