Margaret Hamlin was born July 3, 1950, in Nansemond County. She was one of nine children born to the late George and Amanda (White) Hamlin. She departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Brenda Hendricks, of Suffolk, and Mary Ann Jones-Wiggins (Darris), of Suffolk; one sister, Hattie Hamlin, of Suffolk; three brothers, Herman L. Hamlin, of Suffolk, Melvin J. Hamlin, of Richmond, and John R. Hamlin, of Dillwyn; four grandchildren, Shay Bougere, of Aberdeen, Maryland, Gary Jones, of Suffolk, Terrell Jones, of Suffolk, and Tamnequa Wiggins, of Suffolk; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Bagley and Mollie L. Boykins, and two brothers, George W. Hamlin of James T. Hamlin, all from Suffolk.
She was a member of Galatians United Church of Christ and an employee with the city of Suffolk for 16 years.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance.
