Alvin Ray Lamb, 83, passed away on Dec. 15, 2021. He was born in Rocky Mount, N.C. the son of the late Elmer and Helen Lamb. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Lamb and brother, Bill Lamb. Ray served in the Marine Air Reserves. He retired as a programmer for General Data Communications. In his free time, Ray enjoyed photography, talking on the ham radio, target shooting and woodworking.
Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta Bathe Lamb; daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Richard Meloy; grandchildren, Sophie Ann Ceceal Meloy, Nicole Wrench (Chris) and Tabitha Miesell (Rob); three great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Teddy and Kay Lamb; Dale Lamb; nieces and nephew, Heather, Steven, and Kris; and former sister-in-law, Laraine Lamb.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Jim George officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Missions Fund. Condolences may be registered online at parrfuneralhome.com.
