Former Nansemond River High standout Pheldarius Payne is transferring to Virginia Tech for his final season of college football.

Payne, who played 10 games for Nebraska last fall before an injury ended his season, starred at Lackawanna Junior College after graduating from Nansemond River.

During the 2021 season for the Cornhuskers, Payne recorded 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Payne is eligible to enroll at Virginia Tech following the spring semester.
