The Suffolk-Nansemond Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America will hold its sixth annual Teddy Bear Hunt from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the chapter’s park, located at 480 Kings Fork Highway.
The park will be open at 10:30 a.m., with the Teddy Bear Hunt starting at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $15 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. Children must be ages 3 to 10.
Each child will receive a “teddy bear hunting license” that allows them to find and keep a teddy bear. The teddy bears are wrapped in clear plastic bags (to protect them) and strategically placed along the park’s walking paths.
In addition to receiving a teddy bear, lunch will be provided to the hunters and their parents or guardians from noon to 1 p.m.
After lunch children accompanied by their parents or guardians will be able to explore the park, try fishing in the pond or just enjoy the rest of the day enjoying nature. There will be a limited number of fishing rods on site, so participants are encouraged to bring their own.
Participation is limited due to available resources, so RSVPs are required to reserve a space. Those interested in participating must RSVP no later than Saturday, April 16, by emailing kbdugan@gmail.com or calling 757-635-1025.
