A Louisiana man with what was believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries as the result of a construction accident off of Shoulders Hill Road in North Suffolk continued to recover in the hospital Wednesday.
William Ryan O’Quain, 38, of Westlake, Louisiana, is listed in fair condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, according to Sentara Healthcare spokesman Peter Sengenberger.
O’Quain was operating a piece of equipment at a construction site at a housing development in the 1900 block of Laycock Lane Tuesday morning when he was pinned after a dump truck backed into the equipment he was operating, according to Suffolk Fire & Rescue Capt. Steven Henkle.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel extricated O’Quain and he was flown to the hospital after being treated at the scene.
The site of the accident is in the area where two housing developments are currently under construction — The Vineyards at Bennett’s Creek Quarter and Iron Horse.
