A Southampton County man has been charged with driving while under the influence of drugs during an accident that killed a Suffolk woman Saturday.

Jennifer Copeland, 43, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Patrick Dane Bosley, 23, of Sedley, was charged with misdemeanor counts of DWI: influence of drugs, first offense, and failure to maintain proper control/improper brakes. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, police said in a news release. 

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue units responded to the 5000 block of Pruden Boulevard, near its intersection with Old Myrtle Road, at 5:45 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle overturned in the accident.
