The Suffolk Art League is teaming up with 757 Creative Reuse Center for a needle felting workshop.

The workshop, scheduled for Thursday, June 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will be led by Amy LeBlanc from the 757 Creative Reuse Center.

Needle felting is a fiber craft that uses dyed wool and a specialized needle to create miniature sculptures and other objects. The class is open to crafters ages 10 and older and is priced on a sliding scale to maintain accessibility.

The class is inspired by and aligned with the current exhibition at the gallery, “Threaded: An Invitational Exhibit Showcasing Fiber and Textile Art,” co-curated by the Suffolk Art League and the Suffolk Art Gallery. The exhibit runs through June 3. The show features works by several local fiber-based artists, including Asa Jackson, Katherine Wassink and Maizelle Brown, as well as works that display needle felting techniques.

The 757 Creative Reuse Center is a nonprofit dedicated to reducing waste and improving access to affordable arts and craft supplies in Hampton Roads.
