The King’s Fork High School girls tennis team went 2-2 in a busy seven-day stretch.
Coach Janice Henderson’s squad edged Indian River High School 5-4 on April 29, thanks to strong singles play.
Janya Edwards won her match 6-3, 3-6, 10-4; Meghan Powell won 7-5, 2-6, 10-8; Nakari Blunt won 7-5, 2-6, 10-3; and Brianna Rodriquez won 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.
King’s Fork fell 9-0 to Deep Creek on Thursday and 7-2 to Grassfield High on Tuesday.
Leah Stewart and Powell won their doubles match against Grassfield 8-6. Kaylee Hodouto won her singles match 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
The Bulldogs beat Heritage 6-3 on Monday. Edwards and Imani Williams prevailed 8-5 in doubles play. Stewart won 7-5, 6-6, 10-8 in singles. Powell and Edwards each won their singles matches 6-2, 6-2. Blunt prevailed 6-1, 6-4 in singles, and Rodriquez blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0.
