Suffolk man charged with fatally shooting stepdad on Memorial Day

Police arrested a 19-year-old Suffolk man in the Memorial Day shooting death of his stepfather.

Kaevon Dionte Stowes faces felony charges of murder-second degree and use or display of firearm in commission of felony. 

Police, in a Tuesday news release, identified the victim as Timothy Gene Harper, 57, of Suffolk. 

Dispatchers were notified of a shooting at 4:11 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Hunter Street in the Pleasant Hill area south of downtown.
