Man injured in downtown shooting

A 48-year-old man was shot and two homes were struck by gunfire overnight in downtown Suffolk. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Dispatchers were alerted at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday that a man had been shot in the 100 block of Church Street, which runs parallel to North Main Street downtown.
Officers found several shell casings in the roadway and two residences that had sustained damage, police said in a news release.
The shooting victim, whom police did not identify, was treated at the scene by Suffolk Fire and Rescue, then transported to a local hospital.
