Ramona Jean Rountree Perry, 84, died Friday, July 29, 2022, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
Born on Oct. 19, 1937, to Gilmore Carter Rountree and Thelma Mandonia Riddick Rountree, Jean grew up on her family farm located on Desert Road in Nansemond County. After 32 years of service, Jean retired as Chief Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court for the City of Suffolk. She was a longstanding member of Liberty Spring Christian Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school in her earlier years and the women’s fellowship in her later years.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Charles Thomas Perry Sr. and younger sister Mary Ellen Rountree Browning.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina Perry Jones and son-in-law, Charles Jones; son, Charles “Chuck” Thomas Perry Jr. and daughter-in-law, Erica Perry; grandchildren, Mariah Rubbicco and John Carter Perry; brother, David C. Rountree and friend and partner Neil Watkins and his children, Renee Rountree McNair and Clinton Carter Rountree; brother-in-law, Charles Browning and niece, Carla J. Browning and former husband, G.E. ” Lefty” Woodward.
In memory of Jean Perry and her sister Mary Ellen Browning, a celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Liberty Spring Christian Church with a lunch reception following. In lieu of flowers and food, donations may be made to Liberty Spring Christian Church. Condolences may be registered online at parrfuneralhome.com.
