Michaela Rose has long been a big name on the Suffolk track scene. Now she’s showing out on an international stage.
Rose, the daughter of Marcia and Michael Rose of Suffolk, won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles this month at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Santiago de Cali, Colombia.
She ran a personal best of 56.86 seconds, trailing only gold medalist Akala Garrett of North Carolina and silver medalist Hanna Karlsson of Sweden.
Rose, who was homeschooled, is a rising sophomore at Louisiana State University, where she runs track and made the honor roll as a freshman.
Her parents are both Tallwood High School coaches who ran college track at Auburn University.
