Cloggers group garners awards at August competition

- The Peanut City Cloggers show off their grand championship banner earned in the recent Sound FX Clogging Competition. The group qualified to participate in the upcoming national championship competition.

The Peanut City Cloggers racked up win after win during an Aug. 20-22 trip to Lake Junaluska, North Carolina for the Sound FX Clogging Competition.
PCC competed in nine routines with the following results.
Elementary Division: Country Hoedown, first place; Running Set Hoedown, first place; and Premier Traditional Line, first place
Junior Division: Traditional Line, second place.
Senior Division: Open Hoedown, first place; Traditional Line Formations, third place; Running Set Hoedown, first place and grand champion; Running Set Precision, first place and grand champion; and Smooth, first place and grand champion.
Solo Winners: Traditional Category-Female, Reese Mumford, first place; Contemporary Category-Female, Reese Mumford, second place; Flatfoot Category, Lauren Canady, second place; and Flatfoot Category, Olivia Morris, third place.
The Peanut City Cloggers also qualified to compete in the ACHF National Championship set to be held Oct. 21 and 22 in Tennessee.
The cloggers are performing at the Suffolk Peanut Fest at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
