Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams Road, Suffolk, welcomes its new pastor, the Rev. Allen Edwards, as part of the 62nd anniversary celebration set for the 10 a.m., service Sept. 11.

Edwards, a native of Sparta, North Carolina, assumes his new role here Sunday, Sept. 18.

He announced his call to preach the gospel in 2015 and served as co-pastor of Whitehead Baptist Church for six years.

Allen and his wife, Ashley, have been married since 2018. He is excited to be a part of God’s ministry at Wilroy and welcomes everyone to join them.

The church also plans to open a time capsule dated 1971 during Sunday’s anniversary celebration.

A reception will be held in the COC building of the church directly after the service.
