Milton Williams Sr. reached out for his heavenly home Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, but left his earthly home Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, surrounded by his family. Milton was born to Herman and Della Crocker Williams on Sept. 6, 1937, in Courtland. Milton, affectionately known to many family members and friends as “Uncle Milton,” had a matchless love for his family and would do whatever he could to make everyone happy.
Milton received his education at St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, where he learned his masonry craft. He was a successful business owner/masonry contractor for more than 40 years. He was extremely proud to show others the work he did throughout the Hampton Roads Area and was highly respected and loved by many businessmen within the community. Milton was a faithful member of East End Baptist Church and served on the Board of Trustees and Building Ministry until his health failed him.
Milton leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Goldie P. Williams; sons, Milton C. Williams Jr. and Andre L. Williams (Clayton); daughters, Jewel Williams-Jones (James) and
Joan Turner (William). He is also survived by his sister, Eunice Wilson; one granddaughter, two step-grandsons, one step-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews who loved him immensely as well as his “grand-dog” Zoe, that never left his side during his last days. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Emma Boykins, Wilbert Williams, Herman Williams, Mary Porter and Barbara Harris.
The family extends a thank you to an outstanding care team, Jacqueline Hill, Carolyn Hill, Gladys Hunt, Alauna Samuels and a special thank you to his caregiver, Mearl Boone who was with him to the end.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home. A homegoing service is to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at East End Baptist Church, 1056 Portsmouth Blvd. with the Pastor Dr. Wayne D. Faison delivering the message of triumph. In lieu of flowers please make donations to East End Baptist Church. The committal and benediction will follow in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to the professional and caring staff of Wm M. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 224 S. Main St. Franklin. Please share your condolences with the family at wmjohnsonandsons.com.
