An ordinance protecting open space in a new phase of the Meadows Landing Subdivision won City Council’s approval Nov. 2.
City Council members voted 8-0 to approve the ordinance authorizing the City Manager to “accept a deed open-space eEasement over the common passive open-space within Phase 2 of the Cluster Subdivision Plat for Meadows Landing.”
Mayor Mike Duman explained Tuesday that this deed is a formality to prevent the open-space from being built upon in the future.
During the Wednesday, Nov. 2 meeting, Interim Director of Planning and Community Development Kevin Wyne provided a brief presentation to discuss the overview of the ordinance.
“This would be Phase 2 of the Meadows Landing Subdivision and ultimately, this would allow the city manager to execute the easement for I believe it’s about 4.7 acres total of past open spaces in the subdivision,” Wyne explained.
“This section of Meadows Landing Phase 2 consists of nine total lots. Phase 3 is also planned, so we’ll probably be back at this again,” he said. “But this would authorize the City Manager to enter into this open space on the city’s behalf.”
