The 2022 Suffolk Holiday Season begins Friday, Nov. 18 with a hometown kickoff.

The Grand Illumination Ceremony at Market Park, 326 N. Main St. in downtown Suffolk, will ring in the holidays for families in our community, with the park opening at 6 p.m.

Watch the 32-foot tree light up when the switch is flipped to illuminate Suffolk for the season, according to a news release from the City of Suffolk.

Be there as Santa arrives in style, enjoy seasonal music, take a tour of the Suffolk Seaboard Railroad Museum and enjoy a free horse-drawn carriage ride. Youngsters can also participate in various holiday-themed craft activities or see a puppet show in the specially-heated tent.

Be sure to bring along a camera to capture a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Oakland Elementary School Choir will sing carols after Santa arrives.

Parking is available at the Visitor Center, 524 North Main St., and shuttle service will run from the Godwin Courts Building parking lot and First Baptist Church parking lot on Main Street starting at 5:45 p.m.
