Suffolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. holds an event to commemorate World AIDS Day at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.

This year’s World AIDS Day theme is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV.” The event will be held at the Old Nansemond County Suffolk Courthouse at 524 North Main St.

In addition to the commemoration ceremony, the sorority will collect toiletries to be donated to the LGBT Life Center.

Items sought for the toiletries drive include: baby wipes, body soap, conditioner, combs, dental floss, deodorant, hairbrushes, lotion, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, shaving razors and cream, facial tissues, toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
