Constance Heynen Pomeroy passed away on Dec. 19, 2022, at the age of 92. She was born on Aug. 1, 1930, in New York City. The daughter of Louis W. Heynen and Barbara E. Shea, Connie moved with her mother to Portsmouth in 1943, where she completed high school and attended the College of William & Mary.

Connie married Leslie K. Pomeroy Jr., Class of ’47 USNA on Feb. 26, 1949. That was the beginning of an adventurous life of 73 years of marriage, which included Les’ 26-year Navy career and his 15-year career as a college professor at Providence College in R.I.

Connie enjoyed traveling and living in many interesting places, including London, England for two years. Connie and Les shared a passion for snow skiing, duplicate bridge and sailing on their sailboat, Wind Song.

In 1997 Connie and Les moved to Virginia Beach and subsequently moved in 2011 to the Lake Prince Woods retirement community in Suffolk.

Connie was a member of the Mayflower Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Huguenot Society of Rhode Island.

Connie was a devoted wife to Les (who passed away on July 23, 2022) and is survived by their three children, David Pomeroy (wife, Karen) of Arlington, Anne Doerge (husband, Dan) of Ocala, Fla. and Catherine Hankins (husband, Dan) of Midlothian; five grandchildren, Scott Smith, Connie Pfeiffer-Jones, Shelly Ueberroth, Erin and Robin Pomeroy; four great-grandchildren, Catherine and Caroline Pfeiffer and Stella and Jack Ueber- roth.

Connie will be buried alongside Les at Arlington National Cemetery.
