A conditional use permit application for a new Holland Road Taco Bell drive-through won approval at last Wednesday’s City Council meeting
With approval of the ordinance Wednesday, Dec. 21, the restaurant can build at 1523 Holland Road location.
Speaking in opposition to the ordinance, Suffolk local Jacqueline Brooks said the fast-food chain currently has two locations within range of each other.
“Is there enough support for this business, Taco Bell, to have three locations within 10-15 minutes of each other? That’s my big question,” Brooks said at the meeting.
During the rebuttal period, GPD Group agent Sarah McGowan spoke on how the committee for the fast-food chain chooses construction based on the needs of the area.
“Each site is chosen by the Taco Bell real estate committee based on different traffic patterns, traffic counts, and the needs,” McGowan said.“So they do a study of all the areas in where they are needed, or they would get business. So this Taco Bell would not take the business from the other two locations in the area.”
The ordinance was approved with a unanimous 8-0 vote.
