Lakeland girls recognized for hoops season

Four Lakeland High School girls basketball players and its coach recently were honored for their play this season in the 3A Region.

Coach Daryl Roundtree, who was named 3A coach of the year, announced the honors Monday. The team’s exciting playoff run ended Friday, March 3 in the VHSL Class 3 State Tournament quarterfinals, where they fell to Region 3B runner-up Brentsville District, 50-36.

Lady Cavs honored in the 3A Region are:

Nyeshia Savage, 3A player of the year, with season stats of 16 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Jaelyn Brown, first team All 3A Region, with season stats of 15 points and 8 assists.
Kianna Gray, second team All 3A Region, with season stats of 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Ja’Najah Artis, second team All 3A Region, with season stats of 10 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists.
