Doctor convicted on misdemeanor for attempt to film nude woman

A former Suffolk doctor was found guilty of attempting to film a non-consenting nude person Monday in Suffolk General District Court.

In a bench hearing Monday, April 10, Dr. Giovanni Geronilla of Norfolk was found guilty on the charge that is a Class 1 misdemeanor. The judge sentenced Geronilla to 90 days in jail with 70 of those suspended. He was fined $1,500 plus $106 in court costs.

General District Court officials also confirmed Thursday that the judge ordered that Geronilla is not allowed to be in possession of anything that can record for 12 months.

Reports show that the incident occurred June 7 when he allegedly placed a cell phone under the dress of a co-worker to take a video. Court records show Geronilla arraigned on the charge July 12, 2022 and released on bond July 14, 2022. 

The doctor reports to jail April 17, according to District Court.

There has been no action yet from Geronilla or his attorney on an appeal in the case.
