Blythewood Lane fire injures 1, displaces 2

A Friday morning fire injured one person and heavily damaged a home in the 1000 block of Blythewood Lane at Lake Kennedy Estates.
Emergency communications dispatched Suffolk Fire and Rescue to the residential structure fire at 11:22 a.m.
Three Fire and Rescue units arrived on the scene at 11:26 a.m. to find heavy fire showing from the front and side of a single-story residential structure.
A department news release said engine companies performed an aggressive interior attack while the ladder company and rescue company performed searches.
One occupant of the residence was transported to a local hospital with injuries related to the fire. No firefighters are injured.
The blaze caused heavy fire and smoke damage to the entire structure. Two adults are displaced, officials said. The American Red Cross is being contacted to assist them.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The fire was placed under control at 11:44 a.m.
Fourteen Fire and Rescue units responded to the fire, along with six fire marshals. Suffolk Police provided scene and traffic control.
