Sandra “Sandi” Lee Wing Rekkedal, 71, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Sandi was born in Mandan, N.D. She began work as a registered nurse in Devils Lake, N.D. in 1972, where she met her soulmate, Curtis Dale Rekkedal. They married on Aug. 10, 1974, in her hometown of Mandan and enjoyed 42 years of love together. They had five children and lived in Devils Lake until 1999, then moved to Suffolk where their children joined them as well.

Sandi was a proud graduate of North Dakota State University School of Nursing and had a 42-year career as a registered nurse. She began her career in Devils Lake, N.D. at the North Dakota School of the Deaf, Mercy Hospital, Lutheran Home (later known as Heartland Care), REM group home, Maryview Hospital and Obici Hospital in Suffolk until she retired in 2014. She was a compassionate nurse, who always put her patients first.

She is survived by her children, Macey Ann Rekkedal Olenjack, Curtis Dean Rekkedal and wife, Sandy Kay (Shereck), Jory Cole Rekkedal and wife, Kathryn Marie (Ciotti), Tanis Donald Rekkedal, Hally Kay Ligon Mouring and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Shelby Olenjack, Curtis James, Chase, June, Evelyn, William and Lucia Rekkedal, Riley Ligon, Jon and Lilliee Ann Mouring.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church officiated by the Rev. Keith Emerson. R.W. Baker & Co.
