Suffolk Workforce Development Center is offering a free program Thursday on knowing individual legal rights as part of its Active Adults series.
Participants in the session at 11 a.m. will learn about creating wills, powers of attorney, advanced medical directives and living wills, Social Security overpayments and appeals, and Medicare issues.
The free program, presented by the Virginia Legal Aid Society, is set for the Suffolk Workforce Development Center, 157 N. Main St., suite D, second floor, in Suffolk.
“It is essential to recognize the value of leading an active and fulfilling life,” SWDC Coordinator Susan Stubenrauch said. “The Suffolk Workforce Development Center understands our community member’s desire to connect with like-minded individuals ready to foster an engaging and socially fulfilling lifestyle.”
She went on to explain that the new series will offer an extensive range of activities and experiences tailored to our more mature and experienced citizens. There will be monthly workshops and events aimed to provide a platform for our Active Adults to learn, connect, and socialize.
“During June, we hosted our first session on prioritizing health and well-being through Wellness On The Web,” she said. “Suffolk Workforce Development Center would like to create a supportive community where individuals aged 50 and above can come together, learn, and develop friendships.”
