The injured person was assessed, treated and packaged by paramedics for transport. Due to the steep incline and elevation of the debris pile, firefighters used a coordinated rope extraction to remove the operator.

The technical rescue was completed at 2:01 p.m.

The injured operator was transported with serious injuries to a local hospital.

The Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue’s Fire Marshal’s Office and Suffolk Police are investigating the cause of the industrial accident.  There were no injuries to rescuers.
