What began as an annual golf tournament fundraiser, evolved in 2020, into Field Day ForKids.
By expanding the event to include pickleball, yoga, and a two-mile walk, there is an opportunity for friends and supporters from around the region to gather at Cedar Point Club in Suffolk Thursday, Sept. 21, to raise critical funds for ForKids’ work supporting families living in poverty in Western Tidewater and across Hampton Roads.
The event has been important in raising community awareness about ForKids in the community, according to a news release. Each year, attendance has seen great growth, while participants go on to become volunteers, monetary and in-kind donors, and advocates for the ForKids mission of creating pathways out of poverty.
The 2022 Field Day ForKids raised $110,000. This year’s goal is $130,000. Sponsorships are still available and registration is open for all activities. To learn more, visit forkids.org/field-day-forkids.
ForKids is a non-profit agency founded 35 years ago with a mission to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children. ForKids has had a presence in Western Tidewater since assuming the Suffolk family shelter in 2008. In 2018, ForKids opened The Birdsong Center at 119 W. Constance Road, a facility better suited to its clients, staff and programs.
