SPD investigating Wednesday bank robbery in downtown Suffolk

In a news release, the Suffolk Police Department says they received a 911 call on Wednesday, Nove.15, 2023, at 3:33 p.m. regarding a robbery in progress at a banking establishment located in the 200 block of N. Main St.

“Suffolk Police arrived on the scene and determined that a black male had entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was brandished during the interaction. The teller complied, and the suspect fled the scene on foot in the direction of Saratoga St. with approximately $2,000 cash. No injuries were reported.

The unidentified suspect is described as a black male with a slender build. He was wearing a green and gray jacket, gray sweatpants, black shoes and a black hat with a yellow logo.

The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no further information available for release.
