Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a fire at the Burger King on N Main Street Sunday. Shortly after noon, SFD arrived on the scene to find black smoke showing from the store.

According to SFD, the fire originated in the deep fryer in the kitchen area of the business.

The restaurant was evacuated when fire units arrived, and Engine 1 contained the fire to the kitchen,” SFD said. “Rescue 1 searched for the business and confirmed that all employees and patrons had evacuated safely. Ladder 3’s crew worked the roof area and attic space to extinguish the fire that extended to the ventilation system for the deep fryers.”
