Nansemond River knocks off Tabb in Holiday Hoops Tournament

The Nansemond River Warriors boys basketball team faced off against the Tabb Tigers on the opening day of the Holiday Hoops Tournament at Warwick High School on Wednesday.
Leaning on intense defensive pressure and stepping up its transition game the Warriors defeated the Tigers 48-28.
The first quarter started off sluggish for both squads, the Tigers held a 4-3 advantage heading into the second quarter. The Warriors outscored the Tigers 16-6 in the second quarter, hitting 7 of 14 shots holding Tabb to 2 of 10 from the floor, and forcing 5 turnovers.
Jayden Barnes came off the bench to have a game-high 15 points along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals to win, earning him player of the game honors.
Israel Lewis added 10 pts and game high10 rebounds for the Warriors.
Nansemond River will tip-off against Warhill on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Warwick High School.
