Mrs. Ernestine Taylor Langston died on Friday, Jan. 19. She was born on April 3, 1928 to the late John and Bertha Taylor in Tyner, North Carolina.

She was married to the late George Weaver Langston and had two children, Denise and Billie. 

Mrs. Langston was a renowned volunteer leader, education advocate, and visionary and she served on several citywide boards. 

A member of Mineral Spring Baptist Church, she served as Church Treasurer; President, Missionary Circle; Sunday school teacher, and was active on several committees.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Billie Joy Langston; a grandson, Weaver K. Walden (Kisha); three great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Lyndsay, and Christopher Walden; devoted caregiver daughter, Joyice Powell Jones (Rev. Wong ya Jones); and a host of other family and friends.

Ms. Langston visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and a reflection wake service will take place from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at T.E. Cooke- Overton Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at Noon on Friday, Jan. 26 at Mineral Spring Baptist Church and she will be laid to rest at Langston Cemetery.
