Mildred Hearn Schillaci, 92, of Smithfield, VA passed away Monday, Jan. 29. She was the daughter of the late James and Indiana Hyatt. She is preceded in death by her previous husband, Henry D. Hearn, Sr. Mildred was the youngest and last surviving of her eleven siblings. She also raised her nephew, John Hyatt, like her own until his passing.
Mildred was well known throughout the Smithfield community for her involvement as well as her cooking. She was also known for her class and style. Mildred and Henry ran Hearn’s BBQ, Hearns Bait Barn & General Store, and Hearns Mobile Home Park together until his passing. She sold Avon and jewelry and enjoyed doing it while meeting new people. She loved working in the yard and was very particular about it.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Joseph Schillaci; sons, H. David Hearn, Jr. and M. Keith Hearn; daughter Debbie H. Green (Mike); grandchildren, Tayler H. Blanchard (Andrew), Keturah Epps (Paul) and Richie Green; great grandchildren, Dalton Epps, Skylar Epps, Hunner Blanchard, Rowen Green, and Julian Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 2 at 2 PM at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Downtown Suffolk Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Memorial Park in Smithfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter Office, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102 Norfolk, VA 23502.
