Police make arrest in fatal shooting

Suffolk Police advise that, following notification of next of kin, the victim in Tuesday morning’s fatal shooting incident has been identified as Jackquelyn Marie Stevenson, age 29, of Suffolk.
Suffolk Police also advise that Antonio Kiawana Newsome, age 43, of Norfolk, has been arrested in connection to the incident. Newsome is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail on the following charges: Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and there is no further information available for release.
On Jan. 30 at approximately 8:05 a.m. Suffolk Emergency Communications Center received a call for service in reference to an individual injured in a shooting incident in the 2000 block of Mill Lake Road.
Upon arriving to the scene, Suffolk Police discovered an adult female sustaining a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
