Nansemond River Junior Varsity girls basketball poised for undefeated season

The Nansemond River Girls’ Junior Varsity (JV) basketball team is poised to finish the season undefeated. Currently at 12-0, the JV girls recently beat Deep Creek at home with a commanding 71-36 victory.

Lauryn Loritts led the team in scoring with 31 points, accompanied by 6 rebounds, two assists, and 11 steals. Aubrianna Paiz contributed 21 points, four assists, and four steals in the win.

Throughout the season, Loritts has excelled in multiple categories, leading the team in scoring with an average of 30 points per game and 8 steals per game. Additionally, she leads in rebounds with 3.9 per game, closely followed by Ralaysha Covington with 3.5.

Paiz, averaging 12 points per game, leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting at an impressive 54% from the floor, while Loritts closely follows with 48%.

As a team, the Lady Warriors JV squad is shooting 39% from the field and 51% from the free-throw line. The JV Warriors have dominated their opponents, securing victories with an average margin of 40 points. Defensively, the Warriors limit opponents to just 22 points per game, while offensively, they score an impressive 63 points per game.

Nansemond River stands as the only undefeated JV girls’ team in the Southeastern District. Their flawless record may face its first test on Feb. 13 in a home matchup against Grassfield, who suffered their only loss to King’s Fork on Jan. 30.
