Community Electric Cooperative is offering scholarships for students furthering their education after graduation.
High school seniors whose households receive CEC electricity can apply for a $1,000 scholarship toward their fall post-secondary education. Students will have until April 1 to apply and be awarded based on their financial need, academic achievement, and personal statement. Funds can be used towards “tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks.”
In a statement, CEC President and CEO Steven Harmon emphasized the arrival of another school year’s end.
“For high school seniors, that means some big decisions and big changes are coming,” Harmon said. “Community Electric is privileged to be able to assist some of our region’s young adults with their post-secondary education plans. I encourage our member-owners with graduating seniors to explore this opportunity to help lighten the financial load on this fall’s education circumstances.”
Headquartered in Windsor and serving the homes, farms and businesses of the City of Suffolk and counties of Southampton, Isle of Wight, Sussex and Surry, CEC is a member of the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives, which administers the Education Scholarship Foundation. The foundation is supported through tax-deductible donations as well as fundraising events.
