Lady Warrior softball falls to Western Branch

On Thursday, the Nansemond River Lady Warrior softball team fell 10-3 to the Western Branch Bruins.

In the top of the third, the Bruins opened the scoring after Bruins Kaileigh Taylor singled, scoring Parker Holleman, and a Warrior error scored another run. In the bottom half of the inning, Warrior Demetria Burton homered to left field, scoring Logan Greenwood to tie the game at two.

The Bruins took exception to Burton’s two-run blast and scored four runs in the top half of the fourth inning, pushing the Bruin lead to 6-2.

Warrior senior Taylor Shreck took the loss. Taylor allowed 10 runs on 10 hits, walked 10, and struck out two.

Western Branch senior Kassidy Oneail earned the win. Oneail allowed three runs on eight hits, walked four, and struck out three.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Deep Creek on Thursday, March 28. First pitch is set for 5:45 p.m.
