Nansemond River topples King’s Fork

The Nansemond River Warriors scored 11 runs on six hits to defeat the King’s Fork Bulldogs 11-1 on Wednesday.

A huge six-run fifth inning helped propel the Warriors to the win. Scoring in the fifth was led by a Mikey Rodgers sacrifice fly that scored two runs. Buddy Baker added a single and one of his three RBI on the night. Baker finished 2 for 4 with three RBI and scored one run.

Jackson Defreitas got the start on the bump for the Warriors, finishing after three solid innings, allowing just one run on three hits while fanning three.

For King’s Fork, it was a rough night on the field, as the Bulldogs committed five errors. The Bulldogs’ lone run came in the bottom of the third on a Nathan Randolph single that scored Gavin Taylor.

The Warriors improve to 3-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-4.

The Franklin Broncos are up next for the Bulldogs on Friday, April 12. The Warriors play host to Greenbrier Christian Academy on Friday, April 12.
