10-run inning leads Lakeland to win over Nansemond River

A 10-run third inning on Thursday catapulted the Lakeland Cavaliers to a 17-5 win over the Nansemond River Warriors. Lakeland’s Christian Pitscheneder went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate, driving in four runs and scoring twice. Cash Harrington and Nicholas Thompson also went 2 for 2 on the night. Thompson added four runs, with three RBI, and Harrington found home on three occasions. As a team, the Cavaliers went 15 for 30 at the plate, with no strikeouts and five walks.
On the mound for the Cavaliers, Josiah Joyner earned the win, pitching three innings, striking out three, and allowing three runs.
The Warriors struggled at the plate, managing just five hits in 20 plate appearances, while striking out four times.
The Cavaliers improve to 11-5 on the season and look to finish the season strong. Grassfield, Kings Fork, and Oscar Smith remaining on the regular season slate. Grassfield is up next for Lakeland at home on Tuesday, May 7, at 5:45 p.m.
Nansemond River falls to 4-11, with five games left in their regular season. The Warriors travel to Deep Creek on Monday, May 6, with the first pitch set for 5:30 p.m.
