Nansemond River falls to Hickory

The Nansemond River Warriors couldn’t keep up with the Hickory Hawks and fell 16-1 on Tuesday.
The Hickory Hawks were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Andrew Vinarov singled, scoring one run.
Colin Bauswell singled, which helped the Nansemond River Warriors tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
The Hickory Hawks took the lead in the top of the third on a Jake Chadwell double, scoring one run, to give the Hawks the edge, 2-1.
Hickory scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning, and the Hawks added six runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning.
Aden Judge started on the mound for Nansemond River. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and eight runs (five earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Vinarov led things off on the bump for the Hickory Hawks, surrendering six hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none.
Bauswell led the Warriors with one RBI. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Buddy Baker led the Nansemond River Warriors with two hits in two at-bats.
The Hawks collected 14 hits in the game. Chadwell led the Team with four hits in four at-bats. Bachman, Kennedy, Cozart, and Chadwell each drove in two runs. Eli Kraft collected two hits in four at-bats. The Hickory Hawks worked the count all day, tallying six walks. The Team didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mateusz Puszczalo had the most chances in the field with five.
The Warriors travel to Western Branch Bruins for their next game on Thursday.
