Hannah Faye Riddick, of 401 Constance Woods Drive, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Hannah was born in Gates County, NC on November 20, 1938, and was the last surviving of ten children born to the late Alonzo Mack and Bessie White Riddick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, her infant twin Pensie Rae Riddick, Thelma Rountree, Mollie Hadwin, Janice Fogarty, Betty Baines, and Priscilla Jones; by brothers, Norman, Alonzo, and Dan Riddick; and by her husband, Raul Ondarza. Hannah was a graduate and Valedictorian of the 1957 Class of Gatesville High School. She spent many years in Mexico and the US teaching Spanish and English. Hannah was adventurous, a watercolor artist, and a lover of music, nature, and travel. She was a member and deacon of West End Baptist Church in Suffolk. Left to cherish her memory are nieces, Linda Warren (Glenn), Betty Barden (Nelson), and Deborah Lee (Robert, deceased); nephews, Danny Byrum (Cathy), Ralph Riddick, and Bobby Baines (Mandy); and a great-niece, Regina Jones, who have been with her during her recent illness. She has many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great-niece who loved her and live in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Croatia, and Japan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11th, at 2:00 p.m. in West End Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Reverend Dale Peterson. Friends are invited to visit with the family at a reception in the social hall at West End immediately following the service. A private burial will be on the family plot at Reynoldson Baptist Church in Gates.
