Summer Music Series kicks off Thursday at Suffolk Center

The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts has a new place for the community to jumpstart their weekend. On Thursday nights, beginning May 30, the center will offer a FREE ‘Summer Music Series’  from 6 – 8 p.m. 

As part of the Suffolk Center’s extensive 2-year renovation, a new ‘Outdoors @ The Center’ space was created and is now ready to welcome music lovers of all ages.

“We wanted to create a space where folks can connect with friends, relax, and enjoy creative conversations.” shared Rick Byrd, Suffolk Center’s Creative Director.

The new ‘Outdoors @ The Center’ space runs parallel to the pergola entrance of the Suffolk Center. This previously underutilized space has been repurposed into a show-stopping, multiple-patio space complete with a fire pit, lighting, landscaping, and outdoor dining. Chef Ed Beardsley’s new restaurant, Arts Kitchen, is coming soon and will be located on the first floor of the Center.

The ‘Summer Music Series’ line-up spotlights various local talent with diverse music genres each Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m.

June 20 – John Bermeo | Classical & Acoustic Latin Guitar

July 18 – Mark Calhoon | Acoustic Guitar

July 25 – Steve Ambrose | Solo Jazz

August 1 – Split Peace Soup | Acoustic Classic Rock Duo

August 8 – Chozen Soundz | Covers/Originals/Soul

August 15 – Jasmine Copeland | Covers/Originals

August 22 – Doug Alan Wilcox | Solo Acoustic/Folk

August 29 – Cara-Lyn & Harley | Acoustic Duo/ Oldies but Goodies

The series kicks off on Thursday, May 30, featuring the local band Shot Glass Romance, a high-energy rock duo with Chris Owston on guitar & Jack Graf on bass. 

Food options, beer, wine, and a specialty cocktail or two will be available for purchase, plus a free water hydration station. Patrons are asked to leave their coolers at home because NO outside food or drink is permitted. Seating is limited, so please bring your chair or blanket to sit back, relax, and chat with friends while they enjoy this special evening of music ‘Outside @ The Cente.’. There is ample parking available behind the Suffolk Center.
