Montie “T-bone” Ridley, 63, of 1510 Austin Drive, Suffolk, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Scotland Neck, N.C., and the son of the late Henry Ridley Sr. and Roberta Ridley.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He retired from Huntington-Ingalls as a master shipbuilder after 43 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, where he was on the Trustee Board, Usher Ministry, First Touch Ministry, Sunday School member, member of the male chorus and a faithful Bible study attendee.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Beverly Bynum Ridley; one daughter, Mia Pugh, of Portsmouth; three sons, Corey L. Ridley, Montie Ridley, Larvelle Jackson (Arne), all of Suffolk; beloved stepmother, Essie Peeles Ridley, of Suffolk; six sisters, Minnie Boone (Carl), of Suffolk, Mary Ridley, of Washington, D.C., Barbara Flowers, of Towson, Md., Annette Brimmer (Donald), of Virginia Beach, Va., Cheryl White, of Chesapeake, Va., and Chermia Williams, of Suffolk; seven brothers, Dennis Ridley (LaVerne), of Cibola, Texas, Vernon Wilson (Leslie), of Queens, N.Y., Henry Ridley Jr., Adolph Peeles, Travis Williams, Charles Bailey, Billy D. Williams, all of Suffolk; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a very special relative, the Rev. Gloria Skinner Pettiford; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Emanuel Myrick. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be at Crocker Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 26 from 7 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at 201 Woodrow Ave. in Suffolk.
