Make fiscal cliff talks more transparent

To the editor:

Our leaders in Washington have been playing the PR game for far too long. President Barack Obama has traveled the country promoting his vision to avoid the “fiscal cliff” while Speaker Boehner has held press conferences to insert his share into the debate. I agree with our Congressman, Randy Forbes, who has called for open and transparent negotiations. Instead of a few leaders of each party participating behind closed doors we should open the talks to unfiltered television and radio broadcasts. The public deserves to have insight into the process that will affect our families. To our leaders in Washington — please stop the “messaging war” and focus on actually getting the problem solved.
