The Nansemond-Suffolk girls’ basketball team handed Hampton Roads Academy a 51-41 road loss on Wednesday night.

Junior guard Jessica Pieroni led the Lady Saints with 18 points. Junior guard Macy Mears had 11 points and five assists and junior guard/forward Kaylor Nash rounded out the NSA players in double figures for scoring with 10 points in addition to nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Freshman guard Harper Birdsong had a solid all-around game statistically with six points, seven assists, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

NSA (9-3, 0-0) will travel to Richmond this weekend for the 2013 Steward School Basketball Invitational. The team will face Trinity Episcopal on Friday for the chance to advance to Saturday’s championship game.

The Nansemond-Suffolk boys’ basketball team lost at home to Hampton Roads Academy on Wednesday night by the score of 72-32.

The Saints (1-13, 0-0) will play against The Steward School in Richmond on Friday in the first day of the 2013 Steward School Basketball Invitational. The winner will advance to the championship game on Saturday.

The King’s Fork girls’ basketball team decimated visiting Lakeland on Tuesday night with a 90-14 rout.

Junior power forward/center Khadedra Croker led four Lady Bulldogs players in double figures with 18 points. Senior small forward Julissa Riddick had 14 points, senior shooting guard Shaikeyla Jordan had 12 and senior wing Adrieanna McCrary scored 10.
The Lady Bulldogs (11-1, 8-0) play tonight at home against Grassfield, the only district opponent they have not yet defeated this season.

The First Baptist Christian boys’ basketball team fell to Greenbrier Christian on the road by the score of 75-26 on Tuesday night.
