First-, second- and third-place cash awards will be presented, and there will be five honorable mention awards, as well.

The juror for this year’s Exhibit of Excellence is Anne Corso, director of education and public programs at the Chrysler Museum of Art. At the Chrysler, Corso leads a staff of three and a docent corps of nearly 100 volunteers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Rosemont College in Rosemont, Penn., and a master’s degree in museum education from the University of Arts in Philadelphia.

Each student must enter two works in any medium. Both two- and three-dimensional artwork is eligible. Acceptable media include drawings, graphic design, original prints, photography, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, pottery and crafts such as jewelry, weaving or woodcarving.

Artwork must be original, that is, not copied from other artists’ paintings, illustrations, photographs, etc. Artwork must be ready for exhibition. Works to be hung must be framed or matted and backed with heavy cardboard and covered with acetate, with a wire for hanging attached to the back or through the back if not framed. Paint must be dry and work finished.

Artwork must be delivered to the Suffolk Art Gallery on Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students must complete an entry form, which must be signed by a teacher or principal, or parent for home-schooled students.
