The face of a new full-time faculty member at Paul D. Camp Community College will be familiar to Early Childhood Development students.

Antoinette “Toni” Johnson has been an adjunct faculty member of the College since 2007, teaching the course entitled “Fundamentals of Early Childhood Development.” This summer, former Early Childhood Development and Reading professor Martha Kello retired after 25 years of service.

“I am so excited to begin my full-time duties at the college I have grown to love,” she said. “We have hit the ground running since fall semester classes began Aug. 21.”

Johnson attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Norfolk State University in 1999 and a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix in 2006.

“Antoinette brings a wealth of experience and community connections to the position, having served as Early Childhood Education Director at The Children’s Center,” said Vice President of Academic and Student Development Tara Atkins-Brady.

Johnson has also taught in Isle of Wight County Public Schools. She lives in Suffolk and is a member of Kingdom Empowerment Temple in Hampton, where her husband, Ed’Ward Johnson, is pastor. They have one son, Aaron, a junior majoring in Political Science/Pre-Law at Howard University.
