On September 29, 2014, the angel of the Lord carried Robert Lee Wood to eternal rest. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Celia Mae Wood and Luther W. Wood.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Wood.

Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brother, James E. Wood (Mary); one sister, Joyce Wood; one aunt, Queen Brown; a devoted friend, Mable L. McCray; nieces, Patricia Wood, Latonya Wood, Tamika Nicholas, Marie Wood and Doneshia Wood; nephews, James Wood Jr., Demetruis Wood, Jermaine Cross, Tyrone Wood, Larry Wood and Frank Wood (Camilla Cobb); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Mr. Wood’s visitation will take place on Friday from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Guests will also be received at 108 N. Ninth St. at all other times. A celebration of life service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday at RAW Ministries Church, and he will be laid to rest at Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
