James Edward Alston, 72, affectionately known as “Duck Feet” was born on April 1, 1943, in Laurel Hill, N.C. Sadly, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, James transitioned to eternal rest. He was the son of the late Flora Robinson Alston and Late Edward Alston.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Alston.

He retired from Golden Peanut Company after many years of dedicated service. He was a sports enthusiast.

James attended New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sisters, Clara Cook (Alton) and Celeste Daniels (Ray); brother, Willie Alston (Lois); aunts, Maggie Gatewood, Mary Nell Alston and Verna Alston; a devoted nephew and niece, Kenneth and Dorothy Armstrong; devoted caregivers, Virginia Hamlin, Lakeisha Walker, Jean Golden and Pettina Gay, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.

Mr. Alston will be on view from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 27, at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church of Deliverance, with eulogist Pastor C.B. Skinner, and he will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
