Mildred B. Roberts, 80, of 219 Prospect Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at her residence. She was a native of Corapeake, N.C., and the daughter of the late James Mayo and Bernice Harrell Watson.

She was a devoted musician in the churches of Suffolk and North Carolina. She attended New First Baptist Church and was a long-standing member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Corapeake.

She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters, Elaine Harrell, of Chesapeake, Brenda Barr (Nathan), of Franklin, Joyce Roberts, of Andrews, S.C., Sheila Chittum (Ronald), of Adel, Ga., Pennie Roberts, of Suffolk, and Beth Wright (Randall), of Adel, Ga.; three sons, William Roberts Jr., of Hampton, Joseph Roberts, of Chesapeake, and Randy Roberts (Taisha), of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Dorsey, of Norfolk, Lois Knight, of Corapeake, N.C., and Maggie Williamson, of Norfolk; four brothers, Ernest Boyce, of Long Island, N.Y., Floyd Boyce, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Delmar Harrell (Dollie), of Harrellsville, N.C., and James Harrell (Wendy), of Long Island, N.Y.; six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, Corapeake, N.C. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
